CHARACTER NAME: Nines
————————————
CHARACTER NAME: Nines
————————————
Name: Jaxx, VT-8999
Nicknames: Nines
Age: (In human years) 28
Faction: Autobot
Rank: Medical Sgt.
Alternate Form: Helicopter
Primary Residence:
There are three places Nines wanders to and from are his bar in Iacon, a human/cybertronian hospital, and a hide-away residence he calls home.
———————————
Weaponry/Special Abilities:
Interchangeable Limbs: Due to his make-shift appendages, Nines can detach and reattach his limbs at almost every joint. Replacing and adjusting his own chassis is a favorite past time whether he’s found a more efficient way to organize his body. Or if a patient require a small part there is just no spare for.
Backpack: While not a weapon, it contains some improvised explosives, and plenty of scrap and multipurpose parts that can be used to slightly modify Nines or whatever gear he might have on him—specifically his pistol. The actual pack is built into his chassis, and seems to be some sort of very old fashioned subspace.
Pistol: A heavy duty energy pistol. Nines isn’t the best shot, but he knows how to use it.
Pipe: Nines enjoys constantly keeping his pipe handy. It fits into a chink in his mask. It's rumored to be something more--On the other hand it is a REALLY nice pipe.
Holoform: None. Nines couldn’t care less about pretending to be human.
Any Team Affiliations?:Ex-Decepticon scientist
Notable Partners: Gox, a minicon spider who transforms into a multi-tool hand.
———————————
Family: Most of his partners during the war have either died, or decided to migrate to the far reaches of the universe.
Significant Other: None. Hasn't ever had one either.
Likes:
-Creating, experimenting, fixing, tinkering, writing—anything he can do with his servos. There is nothing like good, honest hands on work/recreational activities.
-Speculating: Nines enjoys thinking. He’s open to new ideas, and will always play around with them in his head. Entertainment for him is playing around with different logics.
-Wandering: Nines has a bad case of wanderlust. Just because he’s seen a lot, doesn’t mean he can’t see more.
-Perspective: Nines is fond of listening to someone else's thoughts, and understanding what others think or have to say. He is quick to hear someone out. Even if he thinks he’s right.
-Justice: Nines is by no means a vengeful mech, rather, he simply prefers matters to have an end—the correct end.
Dislikes:
-Violence: Nines loathes killing, or any needless violence.
-Unreasonableness: If no one wants to be understood, or to have any sort of reasoning Nines has a tough time finding patience for them.
-Large groups of people: The more people there are the more trouble that could potentially be. Chaos is something he cannot stand for.
-Consistently Trusting: Nines dislikes exposing himself or turning a blind eye to anyone. The few that do get his trust will never know it. As such, he’d sooner bind himself to a moral code than a faction.
-Riddles: Nines can’t stand it when someone isn’t straight forward.
-Himself. He is his own worst enemy to him, and he can’t stand what decisions he’s made, and sometimes how he’s lived or living his life. Sometimes he thinks he is a failure, and needs to find a way to redeem himself to himself.
Personality: His oldest friends remember him starting out as a young, vibrant, spunky, awkward, adventurous and naive mech. Now his optics strain a hue dimmer, and testify mistakes, regret, and sorrow. He is by no means a gloomy mech, but past his lively facade is someone who lives too much in the past. Nines is used to being shelved by friends or his factions, although some of the reason he often finds himself as an outcaste is due to his own attitude.
When Nines isn’t remorseful, he’s quick to fix others, and to carry a decent conversation. Humor is priceless to him, whether its his own dry comments, or someone else mannerisms/ jokes. Jokes of any kind are appreciated by him. Almost to the point where he’ll openly critique jokes—he just isn’t sure about what memes have evolved into.
His hobbies are his just as much his life as his jobs, and he loves tinkering with anything. He has a natural gift for using his hands. Machinery of any kind is easy, and he expresses himself freely with (any of) his work.
As a medic, Nines will help anyone anyway he can, even if that means removing some of his own parts when it comes down to it.
As an warrior, he’ll kill if he has to. Those who forget this or overlook his combat experience are sadly mistaken.
History: One of the first of his kind, VT-8999 (Vehicon trooper) was designed to imagine, create, repair and upgrade warmachines by the first war-thinkers. While it’s not distinct what cybertronian conflict he was created in, Nines was given his nick name by his young female scientist creator. from her he learned his craft, and aided in creation of specialized vehicons, drones, or any sort of trooper. While not credited for original vehicons or protectobots he aided in improving them, or molding specialized and perhaps long forgotten versions. Repairing his soldiers was his joy, and seeing them become effective in battle was his pride. Carefully, he worked to keep himself and his co-workers in the shadows. Nines enjoyed his exclusive perch: he’d build and improve cybertronian war-machines as to protect his kind.
But every scientist has a Frankenstein.
Nines, the puppet maker, forgot why puppets were made with strings. One day, his creator tasked him with fabricating a line of assassin soldiers, for surgical operations. The young, inspired Nines once again set to work. Surely enough, his products bore superb fruits in their test run. After Nines provided them to his maker she nonchalantly dispatched them upon her co-workers—and then Nines and his brethren. She feared her creations had become too smart for their own good—rivaling her own ability. The following four weeks of slaughter was undocumented: erased from any lab cameras. How Nines survived is unknown. Where the rest of his nightmares lurk is unknown. What occurred to his creator is unknown. The mech crawled from the lab as the pyrrhic victor, alone and cut off from all his ties.
Swearing to never under any circumstances use his talents for war-machine creation again, Nines used his gifts to be a medic. Settling in Chaon, Nines acted as a medic for the gladiatorial pits, repairing any survivors. While slightly disgusted with the job, Nines loathed the thought of trying to move anywhere that politics might intrude upon his life again.
As wars passed and Nines dedicated himself to repairing others he found himself bouncing between the deception faction and the autobot faction. To him, the only thing different about both insignias were their color and shape. Eventually Nines remained with the Autobots due to their more peaceful inclinations.
Meanwhile, the true peace that at last came allowed the mech to work as a cybernetic prosthetic specialist for humans.
