They had not been expecting the other to respond to them at all. They jumped as much as one could while deep inside and connected to a Cybertronian arm. More of a full body flinch. The words still reached them through their startled mind almost better because it was so unexpected. They could... have potential again? That despite everything… sounded nice. Of course that wasn’t going to completely stop their old thought patterns but maybe it could be a start. They didn’t respond to the comment though. They were overwhelmed and everything was different and new. They didn’t know how to navigate this. Their silence might have been enough of a response though because they weren’t automatically denying the idea. They were calming down though. They felt safer in the deep interworking’s of any Cybertronian then out in the open wide spaces outside of another’s plating.
This time they thought, maybe they should check. Even if they did do something wrong that they can’t think of, maybe if the Mech doesn’t know about whatever they did wrong it will be okay. Thus they responded, “Are you sure…? That I… didn’t give you a reason? …to hurt me?” It felt safer to ask tucked away in the other’s creation, they assume, inside the masterpiece of work that was this arm. It was easier to almost… trust the other seeing their handiwork as closely as they were. They wonder if the other needed this arm back… Maybe if they did make a break for it… they could take the arm with them… but it would seriously slow them down… it wasn’t like they could control it… maybe if they used their thrusters… No if they bolted they would have to leave the arm behind unfortunately.
The other, no, Nines grabbed their full attention again when he started to talk about the synthesizer again. It would make their whole life easier if they could process energon on their own but it still sounded impossible to them. The whole too good to be true thing. However, it might be worth sticking around for… with the way the other was talking… It would be a long term arrangement to help them… Maybe Nines would let them keep the arm. The experiment listened to the other list places they didn’t have and it was weirdly amusing because it seemed like even as he suggested them he knew they didn’t have them. They figured they should let Nines know, “There was never a refueling site. I’ve only gotten energon directly from Cybertronians’. This is the most indirectly I have ever gotten energon. Nothing else tried ever worked...” If Nines really wanted to help them they should know that it wouldn’t be easy, nothing has ever been easy in their entire existence. However long that’s been, they certainly don’t know. As for their name, “I’m Experiment 04515.”
