On a quiet highway just after dusk a small green station wagon drive along a lonely stretch of highway. An elderly man sits behind the wheel, humming to the oldies station. As he drives along a bright set of headlights come into view reflecting off of his rear view as he huffs and flips it downward. Muttering something about the other driver being a jerk. But there was no other driver….
Just then a set of red lights set high above the other car switched on as its horn blasted! The truck came up quickly behind the smaller car smashing into the rear bumper, crushing it!! The vehicle was sent into a spin as it quickly rolled into a nearby ditch! Then all went silent….a few agonizing moments later the man crawled out from under his overturned car and crawled up onto the road. A strange grinding sound was heard as massive footsteps came close to him. Through the blood running into his eyes the man managed to look up into the masked face of the towering machine.
“Wh..what are….who…” He said in a weakened voice.
“If they find you alive. Tell them…I am waiting…” The deep voice of Optimus Prime laughed as he turned away and transformed! The dark gray and red truck blasted its horn once more as it drove off! The moment it was out of sight the man managed to find his phone…
The outskirts of Jasper were familiar, open and quiet. At dusk it wasn’t nearly as hot or humid, the night bringing relief in the form of cool nights. It was the best time to take a drive, to get one’s mind at ease in familiar surroundings aside from his true home. With this past year, the Prime found it frustrating to the new agreements and separation, having kept his composure when they reached a compromise of the wall currently separating Cybertron. Why was his old friend always having to come with a caveat? “Optimus, you are still troubled[/.i]” Aerobolt’s voice broke through his thoughts, bringing the Prime back to reality as he focused on the two minicons presently in his cab. “Hm, a bit my friend. Just wandering thoughts.”
His assurance didn’t seem to quell the concern as Hi-Test’s optics flashed, sending his own thoughts to the large mech who tried to send soothing thoughts in response. But the mech soon slammed on the breaks, causing the two to have to lean back to avoid slamming forward. “Optimus?” The two minis asked in unison. “The Matrix...I just had an uneasy feeling come from it.” The red and blue bot murmured, an edge of concern in his voice.
No sooner had he said this did he get the call for help, quickly taking off moments later to track the signal until he came across the overturned car. What had happened? And how did this relate to what he felt directly from the Matrix? “Sir, are you alright?” Optimus asked, head lights flickering with each word as his holo-avatar manifested beside his form, hurrying over to check on the elderly man. “Not seriously injured I hope?” He inquired, noticing the overturned car, but no signs of the one who had done it.
“I…I don’t know…” The old man managed to speak out loud. “It hit me from the side…Said to tell whoever found me…that he’s waiting. Some big robot…” The man grunted as he rubbed the back of his head.
Meanwhile far down the highway in the darkness and shadow of a looming mesa a flat noised semi-truck sat with its engine running. Its tinted red windows shined in the night as dark purple smoke seemed to emanate off of it, rotting whatever vegetation was under it’s tires. The dark gray color made him look as if he were dead…perhaps he was. He could feel the Prime was near, he could feel the Matrix! As Primus created the Matrix, so too had Unicron created what was inside of him…
They were destined to fight, there was no avoiding it. Not that Nemesis Prime wanted to. This was what he was created for. He was forged from the depths of this planet’s core to carry out Unicron’s final wish. The death of the Prime!
After a moment of running on idle, the engine suddenly roared to life and reved! The headlights switched on as the truck rumbled out onto the highway. With each rev smoke poured out from its stack leaving behind clouds of soot and ash and pollutants that choked the air… Its large wheels spun in place for a moment as it took off down the road! He could feel the Prime’s very spark!
